Cracks in my teeth

Cracks everywhere!
Cracks are a normal finding in tooth enamel. The older the teeth, the more cracks will be seen. It is part of normal wear and tear.
What is not normal are cracks that progress into the dentine. This will lead to break down of the tooth with cusps breaking off or in the worse case, the tooth splitting down the middle.
We undertake an assessment of every tooth with a filling to see if it is structurally compromised. This includes looking for cracks, measuring how thin the remaining cusps are, how wide and how deep the existing filling is. Evidence shows that if a tooth is structurally compromised then it is a matter of time before failure occurs.
